6th ITS in Europe Congress & Exhibition
Organised by ITS Congress Association, on behalf of ERTICO, in co-operation with ITS Denmark, the County of North Jutland and the City of Aalborg, the Aalborg 2007 Congress was a fantastic opportunity for transport executives and members of the ITS community to meet and make the necessary contacts to move initiatives forward.
Aalborg had chosen "Time for Intelligent Move" as Congress theme, and the event focused on business, organisational and social models for deploying ITS and in particular, the innovative ways of financing mobility. The various sessions showcased concrete ITS solutions for improving road safety, the security of goods, people and vehicles as well as transport efficiency. The concurrent Exhibition was displaying these related innovations.

"First ASIC implementation of ISO TC 204 calm infrared", by Mr. Hannes Stratil, from CVIS partner EFKON AG The International Standard ISO 21214 is a new ISO Standard for car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure communication via Infrared. This contribution presents the first single chip semiconductor product which has the new standard implemented comprehensively. The infrared communication device handles all CALM inherent issues and provides a standardized, easy-to-implement interface to the outside. The CALM-IR ASIC will be the heart of Efkons new Infrared communication device which will be developed for the European CVIS project. 2497 Poster ( )

"The novel international standard ISO 21214: intelligent transport systems - continuous air interface, long and medium range (CALM) - infrared systems" by Mr. Hannes Stratil, from CVIS partner EFKON AG An essential key requirement of future ITS communication is the ability to set up "ad-hoc connections" and to transmit KBytes of data in a few milliseconds. The most crucial and time-consuming part in a multinode environment is the link-setup procedure, especially in a free space situation with unpredictable and fast changing link conditions. ISO-CALM Infrared, the new ISO-Standard (ISO 21214) for car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure communication, presents an outstanding solution to this problem. The standard offers a simple method to address other communication partners directly and to communicate with them direction-oriented. This CALM-IR standard is currently validated in the European CVIS Project. 2499 Poster ( )
