On 28 February 2006, EC DG INFSO (Information Society and Media) hosted a workshop on Radio Spectrum needs for Road Safety applications.
Research projects funded by the European Commission, including CVIS, were invited to participate in the meeting.
Indeed, the event was focused on vehicle-infrastructure-based communications and the purpose thereof, to discuss spectrum requirements in the context of cooperative systems.
The status of harmonisation and standardisation activities in Europe and internationally was addressed, together with the current initiatives and the proposed next steps.
The workshop was called by the Radio Spectrum Committee (RSC) which assists the European Commission in the development and adoption of technical implementing measures aiming to ensure harmonised conditions for the availability and efficient use of radio spectrum.
